Hannah was born in Chenango County, New York on 21 Mar 1818. She was the daughter of Tanner Crandall and Susan Hall. She married Richmond Lake around 1839 and had their first child in 1840. In the early 1840s, the young Lake family relocated to Cass County, Michigan. There they farmed in Penn Township and added another six children to the family. Hanna passed away in Penn Township on 19 Feb 1886.
