The 1851 census lists John (sic) (This should read Jane) (aged 1) as the son of Betty and William Crane (wheelwright) living in Tithe Barn Street, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire with his step sister Ellen (10) and brother Richard (3). [2]
Jane Crane is listed in the 1861 census as an 11 year old scholar, daughter of Betty and William Crane (House carpenter & wheelwright) and sister of Richard (13). She was born in Carleton, Lancashire and the family are living in Tithe Barn Street, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire. [3]
The 1871 census lists Jane Crane as living with her parents (William and Betsy Crane). She is an unmarried dressmaker aged 21. [4]
The 1881 census lists Jane Crane living with her parents (William, 74, wheelwright; and Elizabeth, 67) in Tithe Barn Street, Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire. Jane is 21 and a dressmaker. [5]
The 1891 census shows Jane Crane as living in Tithe Barn Street, Poulton le Fylde. She is 41 years old, single and a dressmaker and daughter of the household. She is living with her Mother Elizabeth Crane (77 year old widow) and a visitor Elizabeth E Hardacre. [6][7]
