The 1861 census lists Thomas as the 17 year old son of Mary Crane. He was born about 1844 in Liverpool. He is living in Argyle Square, St Pancras, London and is employed as a Librarian Clerk. [2] Also in the household are his sister Lucy and Brothers Walter and Arthur.
The 1871 census lists Thomas as a 27 year old, unmarried post office clerk living with his mother Marie Crane, widow and siblings Lucy, Walter and Arthur at St Pancras, London. [3]
