Julia Augusta Crain (Crane)was born in Winchester, N.H. June 1, 1841, and died April 18, 1911. She was married to John Adams November 24, 1859. To this union was born eight children, five of whom are now living. Nellie died in infancy. John R. died July 29, 1909 and Julia Frances died in childhood. Edward W. of Zearing, Iowa; Albert E. of Beverly, Kan.; Mrs. Bertha Starr, Minneapolis, Kan.; Mrs. Lottie Ballard, Tescott, Kansas, and William W. of Knowles, Okla. She came West in 1864, settling near Rockford, Ill., then in Wisconsin, Mo. and in Iowa where they lived from 1875 to 1905, when they came to Kansas on account of her fading health which was improved for a time. Later she failed and for a year past she had been an invalid, a patient sufferer, a noble woman and a loving wife and mother. The funeral services were held Thursday at the late home on Salt Creek and were conducted by Rev. Newton assisted by Rev. Porter. Burial was in the Delphos Cemetery.
