Howard was born in 1913. He was the son of Loney Crane and Verda Halbert. He passed away in 1965.

Former Crabtree Resident Dies
LEBANON-Howard L. Crane, 51, 514 SE 29th St., Portland, died of a heart attack while visiting in San Jose, Calif., Wednesday.
He was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Aberdeen, S.D., and came to Oregon, settling in the Crabtree area in 1940. He was a bookkeeper for the Friberg Lumber mill in Crabtree for many years, and also for about five years for a lumber mill in Brookings, and the Philomath Grocery store.
Mr. Crane returned to Crab tree in 1958, and operated the Crabtree store until about two months ago when he moved to Portland and entered a dental technical college.
He was Crabtree Scoutmaster for many years, was active in the Crabtree Community Club, and various other community affairs groups. He was also a veteran of World War II, a member of the Mary's River Masonic Lodge, was affiliated with the Sidney Craft Masonic Lodge, and the Gold Beach lodge.
Mr. Crane was a member of the Cape Sebastian No. 57 of the Salem Consistory, and the Valley of Salem Orient of Oregon, 32nd Degree Order. He was a member of the Knights Templars, the Hillah Shrine Temple, Ashland and a member of the N.H.A. in Brookings.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loney Crane, Scio; three sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Perry, Scio; Mrs. Evelyn Stewart, Oswego, and Mrs. Verda Urban, Harlington, Tex., and by two nieces and eight nephews.
Services will be Monday, 11 a.m. at the Huston Funeral Home chapel, R. A. Friberg, Albany, officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF-Masonic cemetery, Lebanon.

Howard L. Crane
LEBANON — Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday for Howard L. Crane, 51, former resident of Crabtree who died Wednesday of a heart attack while visiting in San Jose, Calif.
A native of South Dakota, he came to Crabtree in 1940 and worked as a bookkeeper for the Frieberg Lumber Co. until taking over the Crabtree store in 1958. He moved to Portland two months ago.
Crane was a member of the Crabtree Community Club and the Masons. He also served in World War II and was a scout master.
Survivors include parents, Mr. and Mrs. Looney Crane, Scio; sisters, Evelyn Stewart, Lake Oswego; Verda Urban, Texas; Marguerite Peery, Scio, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be in the Huston Funeral Home, Lebanon with interment in the IOOF cemetery.
