Obituary.
MRS. KELLOWAY, SENR., ÆTAT 54.
In our last issue we briefly referred to the demise of the late Mrs. George Kelloway senior, of the Carrington road, Camden, which took place at the Camden Cottage Hospital, on Wednesday of last week. The deceased lady had for many years past been in indifferent health, and never overcame the serious operation which was deemed necessary by her medical advisers.
Mrs. Kelloway has practically identified herself in the history of the Camden district, and her name will long faithfully and affectionately be remembered as a good mother. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Cranfield, born on the Razorback range, near Camden, her father was the late Mr. William Cranfield a farmer of years long ago and remembered by old residents as a man of the strictest integrity.
The deceased was married to Mr. George Kelloway senior of the Carrington road in October, 1866. The Kelloways are a highly esteemed name in our centre; the parents of the generation of Kelloway's came to Australia so long ago as 1837, he, Stephen Kelloway, was a native of the great pastoral centre of Wiltshire, England.
The descendants are five sons and one daughter, all of which are married and settled in this the Camden district, viz., George William ; Charles ; Stephen ; John ; Percy ; and Miss Selena.
The funeral took place at the Cawdor Wesleyan Cemetery and was followed by a very large number of sympathisers, over sixty vehicles following. The impressive burial ceremony was conducted by the Rev. J. Gardiner, of Camden, Mr. R. G. Hindes conducting, the funeral arrangements.
It might be added to this obituary that the old English family names of Kelloway's and Cranfield's are the oldest not only in the old settled district of Camden, but, of the State.
