Biography

William has no known birth record. He was born about 1670, probably at Newport, Rhode Island, and is presumed by several peer-reviewed sources to be the son of John Cranston and Mary Clarke.[1]

William passed away before 1697 at Newport.[1]

Research Notes

Disproven Identity of Mary

Moriarty once wrote that William married Mary Stanton, daughter of John and Mary (Harndel) Stanton. This was based on incorrect assumptions, and was later corrected by Moriarty.
