Biography

Margaret was born about 1822 in Preston, Lancashire, based on the details in the 1851 Census.[1]

First Marriage

Margaret married George Lee Prince and the marriage was registered in the 1st quarter 1846 in Preston, Lancashire.[2]

1851 Census on the 30th March 1851 Margaret was living at 2 Allen Street, Preston, Lancashire with her husband George, and their children John and Mary. Also visiting there was George's brother Joseph Prince aged 14, a blacksmith's apprentice.[1]

1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Margaret a widow and a shopkeeper, was living at 18 River Street West, Preston, Lancashire with her children John, Mary, Thomas, Frederick and William.[3]

Second Marriage

Margaret, now a widow, married John Gregson and the marriage was registered in the 4th quarter 1869 in Preston, Lancashire.[4]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Margaret was living at Laurel Bank, Cadley, Fulwood, Lancashire, with her second husband John. Also living there were Margaret's children from her marriage to George Lee Prince, namely Mary, Thomas and Frederick. Additionally, another younger Thomas Prince was also shown as John's step-son.[5]

1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Margaret was living at 209 North Road, Preston, Lancashire with her husband John. The census showed Margaret's son William as the 'head'. Also living there was Margaret's daughter Mary, now married to Daniel Cairns. Additionally, George Prince aged 5, the son of Margaret's son Thomas who was married to Margaret Nightingale Crook, was also living there.[6]

Margaret died aged 67 in 1890 in Preston, Lancashire.[7]
