Lydia Crawford was born on 21 November 1772[1] to James and Grace (Carpenter) Crawford[2] in Westminster, Cumberland County, New York, now Windham County, Vermont.
Lydia married Elijah Ranney Jr.,[3] son of Elijah and Elizabeth (Root) Ranney, on 10 November 1791 in Westminster.[1][2]

Lydia died on 10 April 1852.[18] Her gravestone matches the date in the town vital records, but a clerk mistook April for August when indexing the cemetery's stones, resulting in an erroneous index card in the State Archives.[19]
