  • Graduated University of Pennsylvania, 1846; University of Pennsylvania Medical School, 1850.
  • Joined the army as assistant surgeon in 1851, moving to the infantry as a Major in 13th US Infantry after Fort Sumter, eventually promoted to Brigadier General.
  • Col. Crawford's regiment served in the South (Reconstruction, presumably) until 1869.
  • Retired from the US Army, 19 Feb 1873.
