When Norman Ray Crawford was born on August 26, 1917, near Hillside, South Carolina, his father, Thomas, was 32 and his mother, Florence, was 29.[1] He had two brothers and three sisters and was the husband of Helen O. Wilson (1920-1990). He died on August 18, 2002,[2] in Irmo, South Carolina, at the age of 84, and was buried in Greenville, South Carolina.[3]
