When John Wesley Crawford was born on October 25, 1927, in Laurens, South Carolina, his father, James, was 37 and his mother, Fannie, was 27. He had three sisters. He died of appendicitis as a child on January 18, 1937, in Greenwood, South Carolina,[1] and was buried in Ware Shoals, South Carolina.[2]
