David is the son of Crawford-4334 David Crawford and Douglas-1572 Jane Douglas. He was born SEP 1662 in Jamestown, James City, Virginia, United States. He was a Vestryman in St. Peter's Parish (St. Paul's). he was Capt. in the Cavalry at Warden in St. Peter's Parish. He married on NOV 1695 at Jamestown, James City Co., VA
David died SEP 1762 in Amherst County, Virginia, United States. He was buried at Stoney Battle Rd,Nelson Co.,VA
David Craford Jr and his brother John were listed as processioners of the lands in St. Peter's Parish in 1689. This is seemingly the only record in that Parish when the JR designation was used. The father is adjudged to have died in Dec of 1689 [although I've found evidence to the contrary which might have been the reason for the "Jr"] and the younger David may have taken his place on the Vestry.
Beginning with the Vestry of 12 May 1690, he seems to have present for each meeting. In October of 1695, he was paid 558 #'s by the Parish for the clothing of Rich. Boe [Bowe] and lining to Edward Burnet for Tho. Gutshell.
14 Jun 1698, David Crafford was elected Church Warden and directed to fence the lower church yard and that there be a good gate; also repair the upper church. At the Vestry meeting of October in 1698, David Crafford & Thomas Smith, church warden were paid the the maintainance of Anth Burrows and his wife. They were both elected to serve another year on 19 Mar 1699. On 20 Sep 1699, Crafford was paid for his account as church warden - 507 #'s and 1512 #'s - perhaps he had completed his repairs as directed. He & Thos. Smith were again paid for the maintainance of Burrows & wife.
In March of 1700, David Crafford was replaced as Church warden and resumed his position as Vestryman. In Nov of that year he was paid the balance of his account as Warden - 1240 #'s. In August of 1700, David Crafford, Nicho. Meriwether & Wm Bassett were absent when the Vestry agreed to build a new brick church.
Crawford did not attend any vestry meetings in 1703, but was present in April of 1704. He is not among those elected in Jun of 1704 when the Parish had been divided perhaps indicating he now lived in St. Paul's Parish. He was one of the trustees that settled the accounts between the two Parishes and was then listed as being from St. Paul's.
The Crawford book came to the conclusion that this was the younger David who served on the vestry of St. Peter's beginning in 1687. He and Nicholas Meriwether, his brother-in-law were responsible for settling the accounts between the two parishes. Hanover County was formed from New Kent in 1720, and St. Paul's became part of Hanover. David's records as church warden is documented at St Paul's Parish in the early 1700's.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
My DNA along with my brother's is tracking back to David Crawford II (1662-abt.1762) and wife, Elizabeth SMITH. I have a paper trail from myself (Crawford-21565) back to Michael CRAWFORD(Crawford-19584) b. 1750 d 29 Jan 1821 in Anson Co., NC who married Elizabeth FARR. Since my brother, Benjamin (CRAWFORD-21572) CRAWFORD's Y-700 test only connected with one other CRAWFORD male and the rest were ANDERSONs there appears to be a NPE somewhere in the line. I thought perhaps the Ann ANDERSON who married David CRAWFORD III(Crawford-336) was a widow with small children who assumed the CRAWFORD surname...but DNA is going beyond David III to David Crawford II (Crawford-334) who married Elizabeth Smith Anyone have thoughts about this?
Sixth great grandchild (Uncertain)
1. Rosemary (Crawford-21565) is the child of Benjamin Franklin Crawford Sr (1913-1975) [unknown confidence]
2. Benjamin (Crawford-19909) is the son of John Crawford (1870-1935) [confident]
3. John (Crawford-19554) is the son of Michael Crawford (abt.1825-1897) [confident]
4. Michael (Crawford 19577) is the son of David Crawford (1784-1832) [unknown confidence]
5. David (Crawford-19578) is the son of Michael Crawford (1755-1821) [unknown confidence]
6. Michael (Crawford-19584) is the son of John A Crawford (1728-1802) [uncertain]
7. John A. (Crawford-19597) is the son of David Crawford III (abt.1697-1766) [unknown confidence]
8. David (Crawford-336) is the son of David Crawford II (Crawford-334) (1662-abt.1762) [confident]
This makes David the sixth great grandfather of Rosemary......however, there is no DNA match to the father of David CRAWFORD II who is Col. David CRAWFORD
I will send you some matching that we can do on GedMatch for descendents of David II, just haven't got around to it yet and it's on the other computer. In the meantime, you can see some ugly notes at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Crawford7109sandbox (skip past the "Profiles Needed" stuff, that's for something else and look under the "Three Legged Stool" section). I have it in Excel, because doing it like this in text was too hard, but I'll have to send you that later.
What you're going to want to do is try to match to whomever you can find that has a gedmatch kit# under those descendants. If you're too far out no matching is not unexpected. Edison Williams will explain to you that anything past 2nd cousin's can't really be 100% relied on, but we're just fishing for evidence at this point, so we'll take what we can get. Absence of matching is not absence of relationship, but if you matched well on one person and none on everyone else, that *might* mean something to be researched.
As I've noted in our previous email discussion, Y-DNA haplogroups are different, so this would all be based on autosomal matching between cousins. Most of these people are 7th cousins to me, (if the relationship to David II were correct for me, which I do not believe) so non-matching is pretty much expected, that's too far away.
However, you should see what you get, because if you DID match to them, that may point us toward common ancestors and pinpoint where an NPE could have occurred for you or for them in the chain of relatives.
I did a GEDMatch with your brother James Tarleton III and myself. We have significant overlap. Feel free to reach out to me via a private message and we can correspond further over email. Your brother has a different Paternal Haplo Group than mine so we are of different Crawford lines but I may be able to help you find your autosomal connection to this line.
Per Sweet Briar College records, and Tusculum historic record documentation, Captain David Crawford II (1662-1762) moved to Albemarle County (now Amherst County) and in 1754, built the original section of Tusculum (of the Tusculum Plantation). This historic Amherst County home appears on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and Virginia Landmarks Register.
Captain David Crawford II is the 3rd great grandfather of Indiana Fletcher Williams (1828-1900) who at her death, gave the land and plantation house (her 2,400 acre Sweet Briar Plantation) and founded Sweet Briar College, Amherst Co., Virginia.
This still has GEDCOM stuff which makes it hard to understand what the profile managers are trying to convey to this very interested reader....like me.
