Margaret was born about 1250. She is the daughter of Hugh Crawford.
William’s mother was Margaret Crawford, a daughter of Hugh
Crawford, head of the House of Crawford, the Third Sheriff of Ayrshire, and who was Lord of Loudoun and Crosbie.
On his maternal side, William was the grandson of the Sheriff of Ayr, one of the very prominent landholders in Ayrshire. William’s mother was Margaret Crawford, a daughter of Hugh Crawford, head of the House of Crawford, the Third Sheriff of Ayrshire, and who was Lord of Loudoun and Crosbie.
Craufuird C. Loudoun tells of having looked at papers in the Loudoun collection at Dumfries House in Ayshire containing information about the marriage of “Lady Margaret de Lambinus Craufuird of Arclowdun Castle to Malcolm Wallace of Ellerslie, in the ancient Parish of Kilmaurs.” Arclowdun Castle was located about 900 meters east of Loudoun Castle.

Hello- I apologize but am having a hard time following the bio and im sure it is something I am simply missing- and hope you don't mind clarifying.
I was exploring the two Malcom spouses and but when reading the bio found it odd that Margaret would spell her maiden name so very different from her parents. Also, since this is Margaret's page, I am confused on the transition in the third sentence to "William was the son of..." as it continues more about a William than Margaret- is it a jump to bring William aka "Braveheart" Wallace to the events or was it a typo for Malcolm? (I left a comment on the two Malcom pages and accidentally wrote William so I understand if so- I caught it before publishing the second but thought it may have happened here?)
Sincere Thanks for any help.
Becky
No ned to rush on my part- it was late- I just got off work- Braveheart was on..haha - but I seriously would like to know from those that have contributed because of my family connection and ironically I've always followed the story of the man vs the myth etc. I wrote my first MLA formatted paper in the 6th grade about him and remember pulling books from the library (pre-internet / Dewey decimal style) and stressing about how to write citations :)
Thank you so much for the quick reply and I look forward to the end results!
Cheers!

I will be adding a citation from Balfour Paul , Scots Peerage, mention of Margaret and her marriage to Malcolm Wallace and issue, William Wallace, the patriot. I will also remove the first hand knowledge entry in the sources section.
The marriage of Margaret to Malcolm Alan Wallace should be changed to the 1265 date because Malcolm 2nd was born in 1268.
Also the only evidence I can locate of any marriage to Walter Barclay was in Familysearch.org from One World Tree. I think Barclay should be detached from this Margaret Craufurd.
Craufurd-2 and Crawford-517 appear to represent the same person because: same husband, alternate spellings of name, Craufurd lacks sources for dates and spelling of name.

Thank you for your inquiry. This profile is on the Project's list for clean-up. The biography is currently a mix from previous merges.
I'll try to get to this in the next few days.
