Biography

The birth of James Creasey was registered in the March quarter, 1862, in the district of Lincoln, Lincolnshire. At the time, Metheringham, where he was born, was in this district. He is the son of Joseph Creasey and Mary Beaston Longmate.[1]

1871 Census, ENGLAND.
Living at Tanvats, Metheringham, Lincolnshire, James was a 9-year-old Scholar, born Mertheringham - as was his mother, father, and seven siblings: William 15, Joseph 13, Sarah 12, Robert 11, Thomas 7, Charles 2, and Mary 0. James' father, Joseph, was a 44-year-old Agricultural labourer, and mother Mary 38 years. [2]

1881 Census, ENGLAND
Now at Blankney, Lincolnshire, James Creasey is listed as Servant in the Wright home. The head of the household is an Agricultural Labourer, with a wife and five young children. James, 18, was born Metheringham. [3]

By 1893, James was on the other side of the world, in Australia, getting married.

In 1893, in Victoria, he married Caroline Blinckho. The Federation Index records Caroline's birthplace as Bacchus Marsh, and his as London - perhaps the minister thought he said London instead of Lincoln, or the indexer got it wrong. [4] [5]

James and Caroline registered the births of seven children in Bacchus Marsh: Elizabeth (1895), Mary Beeson (1897), Carol Beryha (1899), Rosey Mont (1900), James (1902), Charles (1904), and William Joseph (1907).

James passed away 26th December 1924, aged 62. His death was registered in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, naming his birthplace as Lincolnshire, England, and his parents as Joseph Creasey and Mary Longmate. [6]
