Biography

1901 Census

Jessie was living at Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom when she was about 5 years old with her mom, dad and two little sisters. ^[1] They were living at number 7, Bank Street. The document states that she was born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire

First Marriage

Jessie married Richard Raynor Foulis who died on 24 Apr 1917 in France during WW1^[2], he was only 23 years old and the father of a young son. At the time of Richard's death the family were living at 171, Stanmore Rd., Mount Florida, Glasgow^[2]

Second Marriage

On 22 Jan 1921 Jessie F. Foulis (printers clerk widow) aged 25 married 41 year old J. Merchant, Iron Moulder (bachelor) at Howard Street, Glasgow in the presence of Robert McNicol (Iron Moulder) and Elizabeth Gibson or Kineaid. Jessie had been residing at 171 Stanmore road, Glasgow, and James was living at 4 McAslin Street, Glasgow. James's parents were James Merchant (grocer) and Jeanie Monro (both deceased), and the parents of Jessie were Crawford Hill Cree (ship plater) and Jessie Faulds

Death

According to the Death Notice of Jessie's son Crawford, Jessie was still alive in 1964 and was living at 5 Eagelsham Cnr Main, Bulawayo ^[3]

Research Notes

Previously my research notes recorded that Jessie died in 1955 in Sterlingshire, however Crawford's DN has cast some doubt on that.
