Omie F. Cree, 81 years, prominent farmer and stockman, of Carmichaels R. D. 1, Muddy Creek, died Saturday, August 25, 1962, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.
He was a son of George Washington Cree and Anna Minerva Blaker Cree, and was born April 9, 1881, in Greene Township.
On October 18, 1905, he was united in marriage with Rosa Belle Zimmerman, a daughter of Henry James and Nancy Fuller Zimmerman. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary seven years ago.
Mr. Cree was greatly interested in raising Hereford cattle and had many fine exhibits at fairs in this area. He had also acted as a judge of cattle at fairs.
Mr. Cree was affiliated with Muddy Creek Presbyterian Church. He had served on the Cumberland Township school board and was president of the Muddy Creek Cemetery Association.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Dr. Sara Helen Cree, professor of physical education at Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W. Va.; Pauline, wife of Professor James B. Schroyer of Waynesburg College, and Mary Ruth, wife of Glenn W. Phillips, construction superintendent at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Leonardtown, Md., and one grandchild, Frederick Cree Schroyer.
