ELIHU CREECH

I was born in Lee County, Virginia, February 17, 1816. My father's name was Elijah. He raised 22 children, 11 sons and 11 daughters. His brothers, John and Jonathan, each reared large families. John had 19 and Jonathan had 20. My uncle John lived and died in Harlan County at the mouth of Clover Lick Creek, on Poor Fork on Cumberland. The Harlan County Creeches are the descendants of my uncle John. Mrs. Elijah Clay of Breathitt is my sister. She is two years my senior. The Creeches are Irish. Rev. F. L. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elisha by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elisha:

There were evidently two Elisha Creech's that came from Harlan County. One was the son of Jonathan Stephen Creech Sr., was born 1825-ish, married Lavina Kilbourne, moved to Arkansas, and died in 1880-ish. I found the father, Jonathan, as a Sr, but I didn't find a son of his named Jonathan Stephen, but there is one named Jonathan M.

The other was born much later (1848?) who was the son of Elijah Creech, married Priscilla Gilbert and apparently Narcissa Taber/Gant whom he had 3 children with and continued to live in Kentucky/Virginia his whole life.

They really liked the names Elisha and Elijah back then I'm finding. My tree is stacked with them. They should've just named everyone Bruce to save the confusion.

Elisha (Elihu) states in the John Dickey diary he is the son of Elijah Creech and nephew of John and Jonathan Creech. Thus, relationship at top is wrong. The diary entry was made in the 1890s. Elisha was still in Kentucky. That is a different Elisha Creech in Arkansas. You will notice he is much younger.

It is very confusing. Elisha and/or close relative, Elijah L. participated in the Civil War. Records seem to mistake one for the other at times. Also there is another Elisha who served in the Civil War, except at another time period..... unless he re-enlisted????
It is confusing that Elisha has a son, Wm. Henry Harrison, b 1842. Then Elisha's son, Samuel R., b. 1845, named his son, Wm. Henry Harrison, b. 1868, also.

Heads up!

The wife was Priscilla Gilbert. It says UNKNOWN and won't let me change. I figured out that sort of thing once before, but can't remember now. I asked for help. Will get it straightened out.

I adopted this profile because months ago I went around in circles to try to get the family line correct. I still am not 100% certain that I am right, but want to make sure that Elisha is not neglected. He seems to be, in that some people seem to mistake him for Elijah Creech. I see that name more often now.

Maybe together we can get it right. I am glad for Wiki's standards and insistence on sources.
