Ann was born in 1871. Her birth was registered in Monmouth, the district covering Lydbrook and her mother's maiden name was Howe. [1]
In 1871 Emily was living with parents Robert and Ann near Lydbrook but outside parish boundaries/ Robert was a Tin Plate Man. [2]
In 1880 Ann married Tom Smith. The marriage was registered in Monmouth. [3] The couple baptised at least 7 children in Broadwell.
In 1891 the couple were living in Lane End, near Coleford. It's not possible to decipher Tom's occupation but he was born in Pittsburgh, USA. [4]
By 1901 Emily was the head of her household, married and living in Cwmbran with 7 children. Her oldest children Tom and Jeremiah were Coal Miners. [5]
In 1911 Emily was listed as a Widow, she had been married 27 years and had 7 children. She was living in a 5 roomed house in Bedwas. [6]
No further information can be found about Emily but the only possible death record in Newport, Monmouthshire (the County she lived in for the 1911 Census) is in 1918 where Ann M Smith died aged 55 in 1918. [7]
