Biography

Simeon Creel was born 1 April 1818 at Adair County, Kentucky. ^[1] He was a son of Charles Creel and Sarah Harding. ^[2]

Simeon Creel appeared as Head of Household on the 1840 U.S. Census at Adair County, Kentucky. His household included 1 male age 20-29, 1 male under 5; 1 female age 15-19; and 1 slave. ^[3]

Simeon Creel married Margaret Hughes Elliott about 1839 at Adair County, Kentucky. This estimate was made based on the birth date of their eldest known child, William F. Creel, in April 1840.

"Mr. Simeon Creel, a native of Adair county, Ky. died at his home in Carrollton, Mo., April 7, 1903. He was 85 years and six days old. His parents died when he was twelve years of age, and he was reared by his brother-in-law, Judge Lisle, of Green county. Mr. Creel was twice married, his first wife being Miss Margaret Elliott. In his youth he made a profession of his faith in Christ and united with the Baptist Church at Columbia under the preaching of Rev. Thomas Fisher. His walk was close with God for sixty years, dying an honored citizen and at peace with all mankind. The deceased leaves a number of relative in Adair county.”

He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton, Carroll County, Missouri. ^[1]
