James Elkanah Crenshaw was born in 1730 in King William, Virginia. He married Mary Ann "Molly" Winston in 1753 in Hanover, Virginia. They had six children in 12 years. He died on August 27, 1772, in Amelia, Virginia, at the age of 42.[1]
