Will of his father, Joseph Crenshaw of Hanover Co., - a copy was found in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Written 6 Jun 1789 and Probated 3 May 1792 in Hanover Co., Virginia
Imprimis: I lend unto my son James for and during his natural life one negroe man named Cesar, one negroe woman named Phebe and her future increase and also one negroe child named Suckey and her increase and at this death to be equally divided between the six children my son James has now living, names as follows, Joel Crenshaw, Overton Crenshaw, Cosby Crenshaw, Nelson Crenshaw, Blueford Crenshaw, and Patsy Crenshaw to those and their heirs forever
