Heneage William Cresswell was born about 1768 and was baptised at Calstock in Cornwall on the 27th of November, son of William Cresswell and his wife, Mary Ann. [1]
Having achieved the rank of Captain in the Royal Marines, Heneage was posted to HMS Orion on the 4th of June 1805 [2]Captain Edward Codrington. [3] [4]
He was discharged from Orion to Portsmouth Headquarters on the 7th of June 1809. [2]
On the 17th of December 1812 at Alverstoke he married Sophia Hawford. [5] daughter of William Hawford and his wife, Elizabeth Whitcomb.
He passed away in 1846. [6]
