Biography

Sibilla de Crewe alias Crue[1]

Sibilla was the sister of:[1]

  1. Thomas de Crue;

In 23 Edward I [20 November 1294-19 November 1295], Richard de Munihshull and Alice his wife agreed to a fine with Sibilla de Crue about one messuage, two carucates of land, two mills, 500 acres of wood and waste land, and 8s rent, in Aston under Mandrem. Richard and Alice acknowledged the tenements to be the right of Sibilla, who granted the same to the said Richard and Alice and their heirs, and, if Alice died without heirs, the tenements were to revert to Sibilla and her heirs.[2]

In 29 Edward I [20 November 1300-19 November 1301], Richard de Munshull and Alice his wife in a fine with Sibilla de Crue for sixty acres of wood in Ashton near Cholmundeston, and Sibilla acknowledged the tenements to be the right of Richard and Alice, as of the gift of Sibilla.[3]

On 14 June, 1352, a pardon was granted to Sibilla for acquiring from Thomas de Crue her brother, eight acres of land within the manor of Cholmondeston, and also to William de Crue for acquiring the said land from the said Sibilla, and also to Hugh son of William, for acquiring the same from the said William his father, and also to William son of Hugh de Crue, for acquiring the same from his father.[1]
