1928 'Car Driver Located', News (Adelaide, SA : 1923 - 1954), 26 December, p. 1. (SPORTING EDITION) Car Driver Located The police have located at Gawler the driver of the motorcar which collided with the motor cycle ridden by Mr. Samuel I. Crichton, 36 years of age, of Halifax street, Adelaide, on Sunday evening. Mr. Cichton was admitted to Adelaide Hospital suffering from injuries to both legs. It is alleged that the driver of the motor car failed to stop. It is understood that action will be taken by the police.

KILLED AFTER BURGLARY FLEETING CAR OVERTURNS ADELAIDE. Thursday. Escaping in a car after having committed a robbery at a store at Eudunda early to-day, Samuel Crichton was killed when the vehicle overturned. A second man was arrested, and a third man is being searched for good stolen. --valued at £200.

1929 'GAWLER ROAD FATALITY', News (Adelaide, SA : 1923 - 1954), 6 December, p. 11. (HOME EDITION) Inquest Deemed Unnecessary Mr. A. M. Twartz (coroner) has decided that an inquest is unnecessary into the circumstances of the death of Mr. Samuel Irwin Crichton, corporation employee, of Halifax street, Adelaide, who was fatally injured yesterday morning when a motor car overturned on Gawler road about two miles from Smithfield. The report for the coroner was prepared by Mounted Constable Gardner, of Gawler. William McAllison (aged 48 years), agent, of Halifax street, the driver of the car, was charged before Gawler Police Court with shop breaking and larceny. He was remanded until Tuesday. Bail was allowed in £100 and two sureties of £100 each to be approved by Inspector W. Nation, chief of the Criminal Investigation Branch. McAllison was arrested by Sgt. Hansberry and Mounted Constables Gardner and Fry, of Gawler.

1929 'Crashing of Car Leads to Arrest for Robbery of Store.', The Narracoorte Herald (SA : 1875 - 1954), 13 December, p. 2. Crashing of Car Leads to Arrest for Robbery of Store. William McAllison, agent, of Adelaide, was committed for trial at the Gawler Police Court on Tuesday, December 10, on a charge of having broken into the Eudunda Farmers' Co-operative Store, Gawler, on December 5. The car in which the goods were being taken to Adelaide through the night somersaulted. One of the passengers, Samuel Irwin Crichton, was killed. The detectives stated that McAllison told them that Crichton was innocent and knew nothing of the nature of the journey, and that the third man was not able to get the "stuff." The third man stayed with Crichton while he returned to Gawler with the goods and deposited them in a shed. The property was recovered.
