Elizabeth was born about 1550 daughter to John Crichton of Ruthven and his wife Isobel Lindsay.
Elizabeth married James Ogilvy of Clova. While minors, their marriage appears to have been agreed in Dundee on 27 March 1564 by arrangement of Alexander Ogilvy of Clova and John Crichton of Ruthven their fathers. John Crichton implemented the contract on 12 September 1574 when he granted them the lands of Kirklandbank. [1]

On 3 Dec 1588, at the time of forming the marriage contract of James, his eldest son, James Ogilvy of Clova resigned all his lands of Cortachy and Clova in favour of that son, reserving the liferents to himself and Elizabeth Crichton. [2]
James, elder of Clova died about 1603 .[3]
Elizabeth Crichton survived him and is described as his relict on 31 January 1604. [4]
In March 1604 Elizabeth arranged the marriage contract of her second son John. [5]
Elizabeth Crichton lady Clova, with John Ogilvy of Millnhaugh and Andrew Ogilvy of Tullow granted an Assignation on 10 Feb 1617 to John Cumming of Carsebank. [6]
