DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
The birthdate of 1801 appears to be incorrect. Mary Crim/Krimm/Grimm Wolford was born in 1793 as calculated from the 1850 and 1860 Census. Census records list her as Mary, but the marriage record uses Polly. The 1801 date came from this FamilySearch Record https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LZGY-T3J for a Mary "Polly" Crim who married Samuel Custer in 1823. While she is attached in the FamilySearch tree as a child of Peter Crim and Anna Maria Schindler, that has to be incorrect if, in fact, this woman married Martin Wolford.
1. If she was born in 1801 and married Martin in 1815, she would have been just 14 years old. This was very uncommon. The marriage in 1823 for Mary Crim Custer b. 1801 makes much more sense.
2. Mary Crim Wolford appears in the two Census records as 57 and 68 years old, respectively, which makes her birthdate close to Martin's, abt. 1793
3. Polly Crim Custer lives in Jefferson County and is 47 in the 1850 Census. Mary Crim Wolford lives in Hampshire Co. VA and is 57 in the 1850 Census.
Something is amiss. One of the two Mary "Polly" Crims is in the wrong family. Looking in the change record and at the biography, this Mary Crim Wolford was originally born in 1793. At some point the birth date was changed to 1801 and Mary Crim Wolford was conflated with Mary Crim Custer.
The only evidence I have to date of Mary's family is John Peter's family in the 1810 census. The only Krim female of the appropriate age to be Mary in the Gerrardstown/Middle Town census is in his family. They have a daughter aged 16-25, but do not have a daughter aged 9, so it could not be the wife of Samuel Custer.
Grimm-2979 and Crim-183 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate profiles. Please merge into Crim, which has sources. Multiple surname spellings for this family. Please communicate and determine the proper last name at birth.
I feel she should be a Crim, as this is how she was listed in the marriage record, and that's how her father spelled it from his marriage forward. He appears to have been born a Grimm, but I have yet to see much documentation on his father (Mary's grandfather)
I agree and that was my recommendation when I proposed the merge, however, the profile manager who completed the merge reversed the merge direction and used Grimm. The marriage record uses Crim for both Mary and the surety, John Crim.
