ETOWAH, Tenn. -- The Rev. Ben "Hooper" Crittenden died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 84.
He was a longtime resident of McMinn County, a member of New Zion Baptist Church, was retired from TVA, Watts Bar, and was a World War II veteran.
He was Associational Director at Hiwassee Baptist Association and had pastored several churches in McMinn County.
Survivors include wife, Veda Moses Crittenden; two daughters, Edith Swafford, Riceville, Tenn., and Daphne Winder, Etowah; two sisters, Ruth Walker, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Roxie Brown, Chattanooga; two brothers, Jack Crittenden, Athens, Tenn., and Candler Crittenden, Hixson, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Triplett and the Rev. R.B. Bryan officiating.
Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
