Elizabeth Croft was born November 1819 in Chowbent in the township of Atherton, Lancashire. She was the daughter of John Croft and Sarah Marsland.[1]

On February 21, 1841, Elizabeth Croft, single woman, gave birth to her 1st child, Sarah. Noah Thomason, collier, was listed as the father on Sarah's birth certificate and the birth was registered by Elizabeth, who could not write.

Betsy died at the age of 61 in July 1881 in Atherton, Lancashire and was buried there on July 6th in Atherton Cemetery. The cause of death was valvular disease of the heart, duration two months.[3]
