Biography

Bessie was born 24 Jan 1909 in Cooke, Texas.^[1][2] She is the daughter of Charles Croft and Willie Collins. ^[3] The family moved to Collingsworth, Texas.^[4] She lived in Portales, Roosevelt, NM when she married Tom McCubbin on 2 Feb 1929 in Hollis, Harmon, OK.^[5] In 1940, she and Tom lived in Gould, OK with their daughter, Jorene, who was 8 at the time. Bess was the proprietor of a Tailor Shop then while Tom was a barber.^[6] By 1949, she and Tom were residents in Amarillo, Potter, TX where she died on 18 Jan 1987. ^[7][8] She is buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Amarillo, Randall, TX.^[9]
