Biography

Lance Bombardier John E. Crofts (serial no. 872706) joined the British Royal Artillery 3 Heavy A.A. Regiment.

John was a member of the British Sumatra Battalion when he was taken prisoner by the Japanese and put to work on the rail line not far from the infamous bridge over the River Kwai. He was a member of 51 Kumi.

He survived the war.
