Addison Brigham Crofutt,
son of George Clinton Crofutt and Julia Delphine Fleming Crofutt,
was born 14 September, 1883,
in Leroy, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania (PA)
Addison lived with his parents in McNett, Lycoming, PA. where he and his siblings, Ernest, Charles and Etta attended the McIlwain School.
Addison was a shingle packer, farmer, and a lumberman In 1918, he was described as medium height, medium build, with grey eyes and black hair.
He married Carrie Gertrude Ovell 2 Nov 1904, in Caledonia, Elk, PA He was 21 and a resident of Johnsonburg, PA. Carrie, daughter of Michel A Ovell and Lobern(?) Ovell, was 17 and a resident of Caledonia.
Addison and Carrie settled into life in Elk, Pennsylvania. Addison owned his farm, with a mortgage in 1910. Sometimes he worked in the coal mines
and as a lumberman
but was a farmer. The first years must have been hard for the couple. They had three children before 1910 and a twin son in 1910, all of whom died.
Addison was accidently killed June 1, 1941, in Weedville, Jay Township, Rural Elk Co., PA. During the night his tractor went over an embankment, while he was traveling on an unimproved road. The fall fractured his cervical vertebrae (broke his neck) and he died instantly.
