She was institutionalized at about 17 in the Louisiana State Colony and Training School.[3]
Later in life she resided at Oak Haven Nursing Home in Effie, Louisiana.
She died at Huey P. Long Hospital on October 18, 1976. She is buried in Nebo Cemetery, in Nebo, Louisiana.[4]
