Dr Crosby figured a new way to treat metacarpophalangeal dislocation (I think that is a sprained finger). He was the first to open an abcess on the hip joint. He practiced medicine in Gilmaltin and Laconia, New Hampshire, then in Hanover. From 1838 until 1841, he was the chief of surgery at Dartmouth. After this he was the surgical professor . Obstetrics and women's medicines were added to this field.

m. July 2, 1827 Mary Jane Moody, daughter of Stephen Moody, Esq. of Gilmanton, by whom he had two sons: Albert harrison and Alpheus.
