David VanCortlandt Crosby was born on 14 Aug 1941 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA [1] and was the son of Aliph Whitehead and Floyd Crosby who was an Academy Award-winning cinematographer. His parents were regulars in the New York society pages, but they divorced in 1960.
David Crosby was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. In addition to his solo career, he was a founding member of both the "Byrds" and "Crosby, Stills & Nash" who had an early appearance at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in August 1969. [2]
David was the father of three children by different women and a fourth child was conceived after extensive fertility treatments by his wife, whom he married in May 1987 at the Hollywood Church of Religious Science in Los Angeles, California, USA.
His brother Ethan Crosby, who had taught him to play guitar and started his musical career with him, killed himself in late 1997 or early 1998. The date is unknown because Ethan left a note not to search for his body, but to let him return to the earth. His body was found months later in May 1998.
