Biography

Joanna Crosby was born December 10, 1803, the daughter of Ebenezer Crosby and Susan Richardson of yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1]

Circa 1827, she married Francis Cook, the son of Masseneh Cook and Bethiah Trask of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1], and had children, including:

  1. Sarah, who married Thomas Allen on September 24, 1849, and who died August 17, 1864[2]
  2. Mary, who died in infancy
  3. Wallace, who was lost at sea, unmarried, from the bark Robert Leonard
  4. Francis George (Captain) who married Olive Hersey, daughter of Zadoc Hersey on March 6, 1850[3]
  5. Martha J, who married Wilson A. Haley, son of Comfort Haley II on January 29, 1853; and who died on November 7, 1869[4]
  6. William H (Captain), who married Elizabeth Trefry, daughter of Mark Trefry; and who died May 14, 1899
  7. Joseph (Captain), who married Elizabeth Crosby, daughter of Captain Nathan Crosby on February 9, 1854

Joanna Crosby Cook died September 7, 1864, and is buried in Chebogue Cemetery in Rockville, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia[5]
