Biography

William Crosby was born in 1734. He was a son of John Crosby of Northern Ireland. He first married Jane Frain in 1756 at Dublin, Ireland; but left her to emigrate to Prince Edward Island in August 1770 where he married Margaret Orr at Charlottetown.[1] Children by Margaret include:[2]

  4. Elizabeth Crosby (1777-1842)
  5. Margaret Crosby (1781-1843)
  6. Martha Crosby
  7. Letitia Crosby (Doyle)
  8. William Clark Crosby, Jr (1784-1866)

In 1786 William purchased a 203-acre farm in Meadowbank from Governor William Patterson. The farm was divided by his two sons following his death.[3] He passed away in 1808.
