Hopkins was born in 1840. He passed away in Richmond, PA on 18 Feb 1898.
Private in the One Hundred and Seventy-First Regiment, Company A. Regiment was composed of men drafted Oct 1862 for nine months service. The Regiment was mustered out 8 Aug 1863.
Hopkins J Crosby died 18 Feb 1898 of Brights disease in Mansfield, PA at the home of J.S. Lewis, nephew,. He married Oliver L. Snover. He moved west in 1876. Sons Frank H. amd Howard T live in North Dakota. Son Charles C. Crosby is at the University of Minneapolis. He is predeceased by his four daughters, He leaves brothers Dr. A. H. Crosby and Dr. P. M. Crosby, of Lowville NY and sister Mrs. H. H. Gowdy, Brookville, NY. He is buried in Hope Cemetery, Mansfield, PA. [1]
