Ellen Cross was born in about 1823 in Eccleston, Lancashire. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Cross.
By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Eccleston in the parish of Prescot.
Ellen married Peter Lucas on 2 Jan 1842 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Neither had been married before, and both lived in Eccleston. Peter was of full age (21 or more) and a collier; Ellen was a minor. Their fathers were named as Thomas Lucas (farmer) and James Cross (husbandman). The witnesses were Elizabeth Cross and George Adamson.
