Biography
Maria E Cross married Chester C Wilcox on 8 Jan 1852 in Rock County, Wisconsin by Chester's father, the Rev. Joseph D Wilcox, and in the presence of her brother-in-law Willis Benham and Chester's brother John L Wilcox.
Her grave marker names her as Betsey M, wife of C C Willcox, d 30 Nov 1860 aged 26 years and 5 days. This corresponds to a birth date around 25 Nov 1834. The grave marker for Eliza (Bigelow) Cross gives 22 Nov 1834 as her date of death, so Eliza was presumably Betsey's mother and died during or shortly after Betsey's birth. Although Betsey reported her birthplace as New York, Eliza's burial site is in Michigan.
