Biography
Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1837, the daughter of Othniel and Mary (Hamilton) Cross.
Her first husband was a Mr. Craig. She later married James E. Davis in Charlestown, Massachusetts, in 1862.[1] They were apparently divorced not long after. In 1865, she was living with her brother Joseph Cross and his wife in Charlestown, Mass., with her 8 year old daughter Ada Craig.[2]
Interestingly, when he married for a third and final time to Charles E. Thompson, she is called Lizzie Craig, not Davis.[3] They settled in Malden, Mass.,[4] where Charles, a former Civil War soldier, worked as a carpenter and rubber worker.
Elizabeth died in Lynn, Mass. when she was 81 years old. She is buried at the Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose, Mass., with her husband.[5]
