Biography
Audrey Crosse (aka Cross; Awdrye), daughter of John Crosse and Jacomyne Lynde, was baptised on 08 Mar 1559/60 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England.[1]
Marriage
Audrey Crosse m 3X - 1st Marriage 3, September 1576 - Bartholomew Edwards[2]
Bartholomew Edwards, son of William Edwards-1555, married Audrey Crosse on 3, September 1576. Audrey Crosse was baptized 9, March 1559 and the daughter of John Crosse and Jacomyne Lynde [aka (maiden s/b Lynde/Lind vs Robinson). No birth registry exists for Bartholomew; but, he leaves a Will, probated, 28, February 1584. Audrey was 17 years old when she married, and 24 years old when Bartholomew died. Bartholomew dies relatively young as Audrey is pregnant with their son, Bartholomew, who was baptized 23, July 1584. This is also stated in his 1583 Will. [2]
2nd m Audrey Crosse Edwards remarried on 02, November 1584 to Robert Best. This is the same Robert Best, Bartholomew appointed as one of the supervisors of his Will. Being a wealthy woman, and young, no matter how many previous children, she was very suitable for any Suiter. Robert Best died on 5, January 1588, in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Robert and Audrey had two children, Thomas Best, who only lived eight days in 1585 and Marian Best born in 1587. [2]
3rd m Audrey Crosse Edwards Best remarried a 3rd time to Thomas Parke on 19, April 1596 in Wisbech. They had one daughter, Elizabeth Parke baptized on 20, January 1597. [2]
Elizabeth Parke married Sir Myles Sandys, 2nd Baronet of Wilburton, Cambridgeshire. This is proven in the Visitations of Cambridgeshire 1575 and 1619. Sir Myles Sandys (2nd Ba.) was the son of Sir Myles Sandys, 1st Baronet of Wilburton. Sir Myles Sandys (1st Ba.) brothers were Sir Edwin Sandys, Knight; creator of the headright system in Virginia and the Treasurer of the Virginia Company, and George Sandys, poet, and Treasurer of the Jamestown Colony from 1621-1623. His residence was the Treasurer’s Plantation in Surry County, VA, one of the sites of the Good Friday Massacre. Sir Miles Sandys (1st Ba.) died 29, April 1645, in Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire. Sir Myles Sandys (1st Ba.) was the son of Edwin Sandys, Archbishop of York.[2]
