Biography

Michael Cross (aka Crosse) was "of Boston" as indicated in publication of his marriage intention to "Ame" Upton "of Salem" in 1728. Michael and "Amy" ("Ame," "Amie") Upton published their marriage intention in Boston, Massachusetts Bay on October 23, 1728. Two marriage registrations are in town records, one in Boston (married by Rev. Peter Clark on November 28, 1728) and one in Salem recorded on November 28, 1728.

Michael and Amy resided 1st in Salem and removed to Marblehead, Massachusetts Bay about 1740. Most of their children reportedly were born in Salem, their children including:

• Sarah b. 1722;
• Ebeneezer b. 1728;
• Peter b. 1731;
• Eli b. 1733;
• Mary b. 1735;
• Michael Jr. b. 1738;
• Caleb b. 1739; and
• Emma Amy b. 1740.
