When John Warren Cross was born in 1831 in Wilkinson, Georgia, his father, John Cross, was 31 and his mother, Nancy Stokes, was 20. He married Sarah B King on May 14, 1854, in his hometown. They had four children during their marriage. He died as a young father on July 12, 1862, during the Civil War at the age of 31, where unknown, grave in Arkansas.
