George Crossley was born in Yorkshire, England.

George was born in Blacker, Royston, Yorkshire, 10 September 1819 & baptised George Crosley, 10 October 1819 Darton, All Saints, Yorkshire the son of Richard Crosley (blacksmith) & Grace of Blacker in Royston parish. Date of birth included in entry. [1]

With siblings & parents in 1841 living in East Hardwick, Yorkshire where he worked as a butcher.[2]

The marriage of George Crossley & Elizabeth Atkinson was conducted on 2 May 1842 Pontefract, St. Giles & St. Mary, Yorkshire. [3]

George was appointed Postmaster of Hardwick near Pontefract, Yorkshire in December 1845. [4]

A butcher & sub post office keeper in 1861 living with wife Elizabeth & children in East Hardwick, Yorkshire. [5]

With wife Elizabeth & children in 1881 living in East Hardwick, Yorkshire. He worked as a sub postmaster. [6]

A widower in 1901living with grandaughter & postmistress Annie Molden in East Hardwick, Yorkshire. [7]

He died on 1 May 1902 [8][9]
