Biography

Colonel Robert Crossman Married Hanna Brooks July 21, 1679. Robert built his first house about 1700 at 78 Cohannet Street, Taunton, MA and it is still standing. It served as a Home, Tavern, Inn, and Revolutionary Soldiers Headquarters through the years.

Robert, Jr. was a many faceted individual. He was a deeply religious man and a loyal subject of King George. He was a large landowner in Taunton and was a hard worker building his estate. He had many business interests among which were mill owner, tavern keeper, lawyer and politician. Although he had many children, his son Nathaniel was his right hand man and his favorite son. Nathaniel was the executor of his will.

Note

Those of you that might want a personal glimpse of this man, please read his will. You will find the reference source below. Copies are available on American Ancestors.org. Kindly note his will was written when he was 78 and a little difficult to read with early English spelling and lettering (double s). But it is well worth the effort. In addition much historical value for primary source material and substantiation about siblings, his sons such as Seth, and grandsons including Robert.
