Susan (Gates) CROSSMAN and William CROSSMAN Sr.
buried in the Clarendon flats Cemetery across from the Old Brick Church
[Last Crossman of this line in the Crossman manuscript at Taunton, MA.] He would have been around five when his first and real mother died. He Came to Brandon, Vt. in 1771 from Easton, MA and from there to Clarendon in 1781. He was a Revolutionary War Soldier. He noted that General Burgoyne's men had taken some oxen and grain from him during the invasion while he lived in Brandon. He also notes barely escaping Indians there. He applied for a pension Sept 10, 1832 in Rutland, VT. at the age of 82. One will find numerous records concerning William in the Clarendon records. Apparently, family tradition has it that he returned to Marblehead Mass. to marry Susanna Gates and brought her back.
