Silas Crosthwait, the third of twelve children born to William Crosswhite and Mary Margaret Turner was born in September 1847 in Columbia, Boone County, Missouri. [1]
His father, William Henry Crosswhite was born February 3, 1822 in Winchester, Clark, Kentucky, the first of nine children born to Thomas Isaac Crosthwait Jr. and Susana Powers. William Crosswhite was seven years old when his extended family came to Missouri where they settled in Rocky Fork Township, Boone County, central Missouri.
He married Sarah Bowers in Platte County, Missouri on 8 Oct 1871. She was born in Iowa in March 1849. [2] Their union produced 8 or more children.
Silas, a farmer was residing in Pike Township, Lyon, Kansas, United States in 1880 with his wife and four children.
By 1900 Silas was living in Precinct 4 Topeka city Ward 2, Shawnee, Kansas, United States with his wife, six children and granddaughter.[3]
On Sept 11 1922 Silas wife, Sarah passed away in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas at the age of 73. Silas continued to live in Topeka, Kansas for the remainder of his life when he died at the age of 84 on 04 May 1931 in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas. Silas and Sarah were buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
