Thomas Jacob Crosswhite was born about 28 December 1842 in Boone County, Missouri. He was the eldest of 12 children born to William Crosswhite and Mary Turner of Kentucky.
On November 1861 at the age of 20 Thomas enlisted as a private in Company K, Missouri 18th Infantry Regiment in the Civil War supporting the UNION.[1]
When Thomas was 26 years old he married Sarah Elizabeth Barker in Jackson, Kansas on 12 October 1869.[2] Sarah was born in Missouri 28 September 1852 the first of nine childre born to William Barker and Arzela Hainline of Kentucky.[3]

In 1875 Thomas and his family were living in Howard, Elk, Kansas[4]Two years later on 26 April 1877 Thomas passed away at the age of 34 . He was buried at Ellis Cemetery in Waldron, Platte County, Missouri [5]with his father, William Henry Crosswhite, who died 22 Feb 1875 in Platte County, Missouri. They share the same grave marker. Birth year in Find A Grave for Thomas J Crosswhite is incorrect. It reads Dec 1840 but his parents were married in March 1842. I believe it should read Dec 1842.
