Charles was baptised on 2 November 1823 at Southill, Bedfordshire, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Crouch.^[1]

He married Sophia Mabbott on 8 Mar 1851 at Henlow, Bedfordshire.^[2]

1851 census: living in the household of his brother-in-law in Henlow. Occupation: Agricultural Labourer
